Original illustrated wrappers. 6 x 9 inches. 32 pages. Signed on the back cover by silet movie actress Ruth Roland (b. 1892, d. 1937) and actor Ivan Lebedeff (b. 1894, d. 1953). Some moisture staining at top of some interior pages and chip at top of page 18 / 19. The Cathay Circle Theater was a major Hollywood theater when it first opened in 1926 and it hosted many movie premiers over the years. It was demolished in 1969. The theatre very much tried to tie into its California paqst in its interior decorati9ons, using paintings, sculptures, and photographs of California historical places and people. The booklet lists and has photographs of the men who designed, built and owned the theatre. The artists who's paintings and sculptures adorn the theatre were Alson Clark, Frank Tenney Johnson and Henry Lion. There are 19 pages showing the artists' work.

Portrait of Carolus Duran (1837-1917) was a an award winning French portrait painter and sculptor. He was especially regarded for his portraits of women and his stylish depictions of members of high society. Photograph has a very small spot on the lower left. Clean copy.

Photo is of glamorous buffet with mirrors and a beautiful chandelier. The house belonged to William C. Ralston founder of the Bank of California and financier of th Comstock Lode. Built in 1868, it has survived 2 major earthquakes.

Built in 1879, the Tabor Block stood on the corners of 16th & Larimer Streets in downtown Denver. At one time is housed a drug store, a diamond and jewelery store of James P Tryner and ticket offices for the Kansas Pacific, Colorado Central and Union Pacific Railroads. It was demolished in 1972. Part of the Popular Series. Clean photograph.

The auditorium is now a Historical Landmark. The auditorium has seen acts from the Big Band era to the Rolling Stones. Slight chipping along the edges, head and tail. Original hand drawn comic panel (13 x 12 inch), ink on paper. Inscribed by Ahern to fellow cartoonist Jimmy Hatlo [They'll Do It Every Time]. Image of three men: one gentleman in bed sick saying the medicine makes him sick, an Indian in robe handing him a cup of Indian medicine saying the medicine made his lame horse well, and a gentleman talking to them saying that it shrinks bullet holes in him to the size of pores. Dated January 24 - Friday. Gene Ahern (1895-1960), a cartoonist, drew "Our Boarding House" from 1936 to 1953 and the "Squirrel Cage" using a surreal or screwball approach.

Original 10 1/2 x 8 aquatint engraving, finished by hand. Henry Thomas Aiken (1785-1851) was an English painter and engraver, best know for his engravings of sporting pursuits. This work depicts the barbarous practice of badger-baiting in which a dog attacks a badger for sport. Two gentleman are sitting on a wooden crate, presumably holding the badger, while another gentleman is holding back a dog, and another looks on. The print identifies I. Clark as the sculptor of the etching.
