Godey's Lady's Book. 1851-1852 Hardcover Very Good Book Original brown half bound with brown leather on spine and corners. Raised bands. 6 1/2 X 9 3/4 inches. 521 pages. Copy has the following plates: 30 black and white, 8 color, 2 green and 4 yellow. Copy has numerous black and white illustrations throughout including music. Foxing throughout copy. Several plates have spots on them. Marbled foredges. Spine has a few cracks, but fully intact. Corners are bumped and worn. No title page. Previous owner wrote in pencil on first page notes regarding plates. Still, a beautiful copy. Pages and plates are fully intact and complete. Binding is tight.

Curtis, George Wiiliam Ars Recte Vivendi: Being Essays Contributed to "The Easy Chair" New York and London Harper & Brothers 1898 First Edition Hardcover Collectible-Very Good Book Publisher's dark gray cloth with gilt lettering and decoration. Some light wear at extremities. The title translates into English as "The Art of Living Rightly" and a former owner has written that in ink on the title page. Former owner's signature on front end paper. These essays originally appeared in Harper's Magazine in Curtis's column "Easy Chair" and are on (as the preface says) "vital questions of hygiene, courtesy and morality." Bibliography of American Literature number 4409. 136 pages plus two pages of publisher's advertisements.
