Signed by Grady 'The Professor' Mathews (twice) and Ronnie 'Fast Eddie' Allen (three times), Both sign the title page and under their pictures on the interior pages. Efren Reyes, another world class player, signs the book under his picture on the interior pages. On the dedication page near the front of the book, eleven other touring players have signed their names - Alex Pagulayan, Santos Sambajon, Jr., Morrow Paez, Mike Lebron, Keith McCready, Roger Estella, Jon Kucharo, and Francisco Bustamante [the signatures may have been gathered at a West Coast tournament]. The book is an extensive "how too" book about one pocket pool. There are sectins on 'Basics of one pocket', 'the break shot', Replying to the break', and so on. The book has a great many photographs. Fine clean copy with a great many signatures of major players in the sport of billiards. 1950.  Two typed pages, single spaced, dated November 14th, 1950, each sheet 8 1/2 x 11; first sheet is letterhead with Ryan's address in Kenmore, New York. Ryan (b. 1907) was a checkers champion and an author of books on checkers. In this letter to aspiring checkers player, John Rank, Ryan discusses some of the etiquette of the game and rules that relate to good manners. He also briefly writes Rank about two of his books about to be published. Pasadena.  1967.  14 page monograph, reproduced from typescript, 8.5 x 11", stapled, with this title and a note in ink initialled by the author stating that this is now out dated, since she has found more packs, and plans to use the material do produce three small books. Accompanied by the February 1966 issue of the UCLA Librarian with an illustrated article by Wayland on playing cards. She divides these early cards into three categories: educational (astronomical, geographical, heraldic, mathematical instruments), political (Reign of James II, Horrid Popish Plot), and pastime (fortune telling, musical, proverbs).
