Early Telephone Photographs from Northern Ohio
Three photographs, undated, ca. 1890's-1900's, 7 1/4 x 5 1/4" up to 9 x 7 1/2". One is a studio portrait of two young linemen outfitted with their equipment. Both are in heavy wool jackets with hats, belts with various attached gear, one has straps around his ankles and is holding a long metal pole, other rests a hand on his saw. Taken by J.W. Unser, Monroe St., Monroeville, O. Others are group portraits of well dressed telephone company employees, one a group of twelve on steps of a brick building has a "Private Mailing Card" from the Cleveland Telephone Co. affixed to verso. The other shows a much larger group in fine attire at an outdoor function, with no identification. All are a little edge worn, the small group portrait has a damaged corner on the mount. Photos.
