Los Angeles Historical Committee of Cathay Center 1926 Soft cover Very Good Book 
Original illustrated wrappers. 6 x 9 inches. 32 pages. Signed on the back cover by silet movie actress Ruth Roland (b. 1892, d. 1937) and actor Ivan Lebedeff (b. 1894, d. 1953). Some moisture staining at top of some interior pages and chip at top of page 18 / 19. The Cathay Circle Theater was a major Hollywood theater when it first opened in 1926 and it hosted many movie premiers over the years. It was demolished in 1969. The theatre very much tried to tie into its California paqst in its interior decorati9ons, using paintings, sculptures, and photographs of California historical places and people. The booklet lists and has photographs of the men who designed, built and owned the theatre. The artists who's paintings and sculptures adorn the theatre were Alson Clark, Frank Tenney Johnson and Henry Lion. There are 19 pages showing the artists' work.

Circa 1944. Original publicity photograph of Marlene Dietrich and Irving Berlin taken at the Fifty Army Camp in Italy in May, 1944. Dietrich (1901-1992) was a German-American actress and singer. Irving Berlin (1888-1989) was a Russian born composer and lyricist. He was widely considered one of the greatest songwriters in American history. Both Dietrich and Berlin toured with the USO during W.W.II. This black and white photograph was taken May, 1944 during a USO tour. Photograph shows Dietrich and Berlin sitting looking at dollar bills. Photograph has slight creases, however overall photograph is in very good condition.

One sheet (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch) folded as issued with composed photo on the inside using black and red printing. Photo of the cast from the movie and brief outline story of the movie. Directed by Nick Grinde in 1930, the film starred Bessie Love, Mary Lawlor, Cliff Edwards, Stanley Smith, Lola Lane, and Gus Shy. The film was based on a New York 'Broadway' musical comedy play of 1927 about college life and love. Very good clean copy.

Circa late 1920's. Original publicity printed photo, tinted. 5 X 7 inches. Acord (1890-1931) was an American silent film actor, rodeo champion and stunt man. Acord made over 100 film shorts, most of which are now considered lost. He began his acting career in 1910, only to take time off from films to serve in World War I. Once the war was over he returned to acting and made several more movies. In this printed photo, Acord is standing next to his horse. Acord is wearing a white cowboy hat, black pants and a black shirt. Photo is very clean.

He became a child actor at the age of 5 when he was in Every Pearl A Tear. His movies included All Quiet On The Western Front (1930) and was hand picked by Jack Webb to appear in Dragnet (1952-1959). In this photograph shows a close up of Alexander, wearing a dark tweed jacket, white shirt and dark tie, holding a cigarette. Slight chip on left edge of photograph. Photograph is clean.

The Chauve-Souris was a variety show featuring songs, dances and sketches that was very popular in the United States.

The front cover has a black and white picture of Warner Baxter, star of the movie "Such Men are Dangerous", playing on Saturday, September 27th. The Imperial Theatre closed in 1932.

Cobb, famed humorist, as toastmaster, Winfield Sheehan, vice-president and general manager of Fox Films, entertains visiting celebrities at Cafe de Paris on the Fox "lot". Left to right : Mr. Sheehan (with back to the camera); Mr. Cobb, Amon G. Carter, Texas publisher; Hon. L. W. Robert, assistant secretary of the Treasury". Irvin S Cobb (1876-1944) was a popular writer and humorist. Winfield Sheehan (1883-1945) was Chief of Production for Fox Films from 1926-1935, when he went on to become an independent movie producer. Amon Carter (1879-1955) was the creator and publisher of the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Lawrence Wood Robert, Jr., (1889-1976) was an Atlanta architect who served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury from 1933-1936.
