Cardstock cover, black lettering and eagle symbol on cover, minor rubbing and discoloration, fold in front cover. 167 pages of transcripts of Washington's papers, not only letters to Comte de Grasse, but also diary entries, letters to others, proclamations, etc. Francois Joseph de Grasse (1722-1788) was the commander of the French fleet that defeated the British in the Battle of the Chesapeake, which led directly to the British surrender in Yorktown in September 1781. This volume tells the story through primary sources.
