Curtis (1824-1892) was an American writer and public speaker. He sat in the "'Easy Chair" at Harper's Weekly having great influence during and after the Civil War, especially the reforming of the Civil Service. This volume is a collection of his writings on the Middle East, broken down into 'The Desert'; 'Jerusalem', and 'Damascus'. Good clean copy.
