Original printer's proof of T.E. Lawrence's "The Mint" published in 1936 by Doubleday, Doran and Company, New York, and printed at The Country Life Press, Garden City, New York. The published version is a modern rarity, with only 50 copies printed (10 were offered for sale to the public at the time for 100,000 British pounds or 500,000 American dollars!) to establish copyright. Our copy is with extensive holograph corrections on almost every page (spelling, spacing, typographic errors, etc). The printed page size is 5 x 7 inches on sheets measuring 9 x 11. Complete in 13 stapled gathering of pages. Comparing our copy to the listing in "T.E. Lawrence: A Bibliography", ours has only a two word title page ("The Mint") with no sub titles; there is also no author, publisher, place or date. There is no half-title or copyright pages. Also not there is the colophon which is found in the published version on the blank reverse of page 200. Our text pages (1) - 199 follows that of the limited edition with all of Lawrence's raw language included. Chipping and tearing to the first outer leaf, otherwise in very good condition. Slipcase fine.
