Two page autograph letter signed (7 3/4 x 9 3/4 inch) and dated April 13, 1847. A. Ethridge is working in the "school system" in the Danielsonville area and writes his friend Jacob Butler White (1824-1869) that he is not able to secure a position for White and refers to the "Academy which has been recently started in this place." He goes on to write "the people here work very slyly about their school affairs and if they have any new plan say nothing about it until they come to school meetings". Written on 2 sides of a folded blue lined paper with it addressed on the back after folding. Fine clean copy.
