2 1/2 x 4 inches. George William Curtis (b. 1824, d. 1892) was a 19th century American author, political leader, journalist and lecturer. He was involved with the Transcendentalist Movement, was a member of the Brook Farm commune, helped found the Republican Party and was the author of several well-respected books. This bust photo, circa 1870, shows Curtis looking to his right, wearing a coat and bow tie, his hair parted in the middle and with mutton-chop sideburns.
