Original World War I broadside titled "Send-Off Day." Subtitle reads, "Sunday, June 23, Set Apart for Patriotic Demonstration with Parade, Union Services and Trench Luncheon at Laurel Grove. Whole Exemption District to Participate; The Chamber of Commerces Invites You and Your Friends." 9" x 17 7/8." Announcement is printed on newsprint. Very clean with slight chipping on the right edge and some browning. The broadside says the Hayward Chamber of Commerce and War Work Council made June 23, 1918 "Send-off Day" to pay tribute to the men soon to be deployed through the draft on June 25, 1918 for World War I. The names of the 223 men to be sent off are listed.
