Beevor Castle is a roaring pile of troubles, as only P. G. Wodehouse can describe them. Lord Shortlands hasn't a shilling, which doesn't keep him from loving the cook, though it does keep the cook from marrying him. He also has a rival, his butler, one Mervyn Spink, who looks like a lord, while his lordship looks like a butler."
