Original brochure on beige paper containing an advertisement for a book published by Adam & Charles Black. No date, circa 1896. 5 1/4" x 8." Four pages, complete. One leaf folded in half and printed on all sides. Brochure is very clean and intact overall. A few faint foxing spots. A Fine copy. This brochure is an advertisement for The Great Didactic of John Amos Comenius, a book translated and editred by M. W. Keatinge. John Amos Comenius (1592-1670) was a Czech pedagogue, philosopher, and pedagogue who is considered by many to be the "father of modern education." This ad includes the book's specifications and pricing as well as a couple excerpts from the book. The back panel advertises a couple other books on similar subjects. In the Great Didactic (or Didactica Magna), Comenius described many of his pioneering ideas about teaching methods.
