Original black and white photo postcard. No date, circa 1910s-1928. 5 1/2" x 3 1/2." Title printed at the bottom of the image. Postcard is unused. Postcard is very clean and intact except for slight age toning on the back. A Fine copy. This postcard shows the interior of a traction substation in Piedmont, Montana supplying electricity to the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad (often referred to as the Milwaukee Railroad). The railroad was founded in 1847 and ran until 1986. The company was renamed the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific (CMStP&P) Railroad in 1928 after filing for bankruptcy in 1925. Its railways are now used by other railroad companies including the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway, the Union Pacific (UP) Railroad, the Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway, and the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad.
