Original lithograph card with a color illustration on front of a girl or young woman in a white dress looking wistfully upward. The portrait is in black-and-white and pictured within an oval roundel. An elaborate decorative border in color surrounds the portrait and features gilt accents and flowers. Part of the card is embossed in slight relief. Card has unique scallop-shaped edges. No date, circa 1890s-1910s. 4" x 5." Card is very clean and intact except for light age toning and minuscule closed tears at some of the notches of the scalloped edges. A Near Fine copy. This card bears some resemblance to trade cards, which are antique business cards and the predecessors of modern trading cards. Trade cards were most common during the late nineteenth century.
