Postcard is very clean and intact except for light to moderate age toning on front and back, minuscule surface wear, a few small wrinkles, and slight wear to extremities. A Very Good copy. A postcard showing a driver named George and his team of mules stationed in Roosevelt, Arizona. The driver may be George Chappell. Faintly visible in the background is a reservoir, Theodore Roosevelt Lake, which is formed by the Theodore Roosevelt Dam. The Theodore Roosevelt Dam is built on the Salt River near Phoenix, Arizona. The dam was originally known as "Salt River Dam #1" and did not receive its presidential namesake until 1959. The primary purpose of the dam was to provide water storage and flood control for the Salt River Valley. Construction for the Roosevelt Dam began in 1903 and was completed in 1911. At the time of its completion, Roosevelt Dam was the largest masonry dam in the world by height, length, and storage capacity. Roosevelt Dam still stands to this day but has since received renovations significantly altering its original appearance.
