Datelined November 26, 1920 in Portland, Oregon. 8 1/2" x 11." One page. Letter is virtually pristine and intact except for a few fold lines (likely original), age toning, and a few small wrinkles. A Near Fine copy. Robert Nelson Stanfield, Jr. (1877-1945) was an American politician and rancher from Oregon. He served as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 1912-1918, Speaker of the House from 1917-1918, and a United States Senator for Oregon from 1921-1927. In this letter, Stanfield addresses the Gore family of Medford, Oregon. The letter reads, "Mr. W. H. Gore and family, Medford, Oregon: My dear friends: I wish to thank Mr. Gore, Mrs. Gore, Mr. Jay L and Miss Mary E for their support during the recent campaign, especially for their letters of endorsement. Yours very truly, R. N. Stanfield." This letter was typed on the occasion of Stanfield's campaign for U.S. Senator. The campaign was presumably a success as Stanfield officially served as a U.S. Senator for Oregon from March 4, 1921 to March 3, 1927. There is other printed text at the top of the letter including the names of club officers and Executive Committee members. The officers are "Chas. T. Early," "Mrs. J. F. Chapman," "Mrs. Geo. W. McMath," and "Arthur I. Moulton." The Executive Committee members are "Harry W. Lyon," "C. A. Proudfoot," "Alan Welch Smith," "Thos. A. Sweeney," "Pasquale Tusi," "Mrs. C. E. Dentler," "Mrs. Sophie E. King," "Mrs. Walter J. Kroder," "Mrs. Martha M. Taylor," and "Mrs. Geo. L. Williams."
