Circa 1880s. Dimensions 11 x 7 inches. Black and brown ink, vignette of steam locomotive in a station with two griffins bordering the vignette, and decorative border. No. 2960, not issued, no stamps or signatures. The Keokuk and Western Railroad Company came into existence when the Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska was sold at foreclosure in 1886. The line ran from Alexandria, Missouri, to Van Wert, Iowa. In 1901, it was bought by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad.
